New York City Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Lawyer

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Some workplace injuries are easy to connect with the accident that caused them. If a worker falls off of a ladder and breaks a leg, the causal relationship of accident to injury is easily identifiable. However, it is difficult to prove the relationship between other work injuries and illnesses to the original cause. Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSD) is such a condition.

If you suffer from RSD caused by a workplace accident, you will likely need legal representation to collect workers' compensation benefits. The lawyers at the Robert A. Koenigsberg Law Offices can help. We have represented injured workers for more than 15 years. We understand the complexities and recent changes in New York workers' comp law. A Serious Medical Condition

RSD, also known as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), is a nerve injury that can be difficult to diagnose and treat. It is a secondary effect resulting from a trauma, such as an accident. It causes severe pain and additional symptoms that can be debilitating.

RSD/CRPS is most often caused by trauma from a high-speed impact; although surgery can also be a cause. Vehicle accident injuries, slip-and-fall injuries, and workplace and construction accident injuries are all common causes of RSD.

RSD usually affects the extremities: arms, hands, legs and feet. Symptoms are often very serious and may include:

  • Sensitivity to touch
  • Severe pain
  • Burning sensation
  • Muscle spasms
  • Swelling and joint discomfort

Because there is no cure for RSD, the treatment is focused on alleviating pain. Living with RSD can be very difficult and may result in depression and inability to perform daily and work activities. If you or a family member suffers from RSD that prevents you from working, you may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits.

Did the work accident that caused your RSD occur because of a third party's negligence? We may be able to bring a personal injury claim against the negligent party. Please call our office at 212-964-9292 to schedule an appointment with a Brooklyn reflex sympathetic dystrophy attorney today.
